“Once upon a time…” The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Brothers Grimm is dedicated to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and celebrates their work in collecting and reinterpreting German and European folk tales, including some of the most famous, such as “Snow White,” “Cinderella,” and “Sleeping Beauty.” The overall silhouette of the writing instrument is reminiscent of an ancient alpenstock, and the black color evokes the darkness of the forest, a common setting in the Brothers Grimm’s folk tales. Furthermore, the wave pattern on the barrel and cap is inspired by Rapunzel’s hair and also evokes the shape of roots, a reference to the Brothers Grimm’s view of their linguistic work as a “search for roots.” The cap is crowned by the Montblanc emblem in precious resin. When twisted, the platinum-coated clip, inspired by a knotty piece of wood, surprisingly reveals the silhouette of the Brothers Grimm’s profile. To pay homage to the magic of storytelling, the rhodium-plated Au 750 solid gold nib features the design of the flames of a hearth, a place around which folk tales were often told and passed down.
